It is illegal to send unsolicited marketing emails, and users buying products from you does not mean that they have opted into receiving email marketing communications from you.
With Pro resources we have removed the ability for creators to obtain the email addresses of buyers to prevent abuse, but due to limitations with our legacy system, purchases made through it will still return the email address of buyers, which is necessary since you can see buyers’ email addresses through your PayPal account. In either case, you must never use emails obtained through BuiltByBit to send emails to buyers.
When users register to BuiltByBit we ask them for permission to send marketing emails. We have built a list of tens of thousands of recipients that we send emails to which is a very effective marketing channel.
We have plans to automate our email newsletter to happen much more regularly and automatically select trending products to promote, but for now it is a manual process where we select Pro resources that we like. Of course, there’s nothing stopping you from creating your own email marketing campaign through collecting buyer emails yourself. There are many popular tools such as Mailchimp which allow you to collect emails in a compliant way and set up automated email flows.
Incentivising buyers to sign up to your email list is hard, so it may be worth providing discounts and coupon codes through your email campaigns to entice users to opt in.
