URLs on BuiltByBit aren’t pretty. Usually they look something like this:
https://builtbybit.com/resources/corebot-multi-purpose-discord-bot.8501/
There are two ways to make your URL more practical, which are vanity URLs and short links.
Vanity URLs are a solution to this, allowing you to create short, memorable links for your resources and profile page. A vanity URL looks like this:
https://builtbybit.com/corebot (or https://bbyb.it/corebot also works)
Creating a vanity URL requires the Ultimate account upgrade, which costs $10/month or $96/year and comes with many other benefits. Read more: Upgrading to Ultimate
Ultimate users are able to create 5 vanity URLs, which can be done by clicking here. You can only create a vanity URL for resources you own or your own profile, so you can’t create them on behalf of others.
Creating a vanity URL for resources requires that you enter the content ID. The ID is the 4-5 digit number at the end of your existing URL. So in the above Corebot example, the ID is 8501.
Creating a vanity URL that could mislead others is against our rules and will result in your ability to create vanity URLs being permanently revoked, so use them responsibly!
All users, even those without Ultimate, can use our link shortener.
Our primary domain is https://builtbybit.com, but we also own https://bbyb.it which is a few characters shorter and works exactly the same way. When typed into your browser, a URL that uses https://bbyb.it will automatically redirect to https://builtbybit.com, even for resource pages.
So the Corebot link could be shortened to:
https://bbyb.it/resources/corebot-multi-purpose-discord-bot.8501/
The common types of content, including threads, resources, and members all have shorter aliases that can be used in a URL. This allows URLs to be further shortened using these aliases, which are as follows:
