One of the main benefits of selling resources is that you’re able to continually sell licenses to use your product without losing ownership rights to it. The rights to your creation are worth more than you’re selling individual licenses for because a new owner can passively earn revenue from it. For this reason, a common practice on our platforms is to create resources, sell licenses for a few months/years, and then sell ownership of the product to another person.
BuiltByBit makes this easy through a system we call “Content Pushing” and our Resource ownership rights forum.
We’ve seen many reasons that a creator may want to sell the ownership rights to their resource:
Previously on BuiltByBit, and currently on other platforms, to transferring product ownership is difficult and manual.
To solve this problem, we created our content pushing system which allows creators to transfer between themselves with no manual staff intervention required. You don’t need to create a ticket to change ownership of your resource. Simply edit your resource, click the ‘Advanced’ tab, and enter the new creators’ username as shown, and click Save:
To avoid abuse, the resource won’t transfer to the new owner until they accept the request, which they can access here. They simply need to click ‘Accept’
We have a forum dedicated to the sale of resource ownership rights which you can visit here. You can filter in the sidebar to see only people offering their resource rights or only requesting resource rights and can even filter based on the resource category.
