Selling your products on our platform doesn’t mean that we control how you offer your products. Unlike our competitors, we don’t enforce haphazardly chosen maximum prices, nor do we define the duration of your paid licenses for you. We’re a creator-first company so you’ll always have the freedom to choose how long your licenses last and what price they can be renewed for.
Customising your license duration is only possible for paid products.
There are many reasons you may want to offer a license that doesn’t last forever, with the main reason being that many creators find it to be much more lucrative to have existing buyers repurchase your product. For resources you provide regular improvements and updates to, along with great support, it makes sense to have temporary licenses.
It’s important to note that these licenses are merely a license to download. In other words, once a user’s license to the resource has expired, they will be able to continue using it, however, they will no longer be able to download the product or its updates from our platform and will be required to renew their license in order to do so. More information on how licenses work can be found on our article here: ‣
To make your paid resource have a temporary license, navigate to the Payment tab while editing your resource and select the ‘Require renewal’ checkbox. Two options will then appear that need to be filled in, the duration and renewal price.
The duration is the number of months that you want the buyer’s license to remain active for. After the duration is over, their license will automatically expire and the buyer will be required to purchase your resource again for the renewal price you define. After a license expires, buyers will no longer be able to download additional copies of your products and Discord roles are removed.
Automatic renewal through a subscription isn’t currently possible, but it is something that we’re investigating and are looking to introduce in the future.
You may not want to require previous buyers pay the full price to regain access again, so a renewal price must be defined. If you’d like both initial purchases and renewals to cost the same amount, simply enter the same price.
It’s common for creators to set the renewal price to be around half of the initial price, so we recommend setting it to be around this range if you’re unsure.
