BuiltByBit is no different, and as a creator each payment you receive will incur a platform fee and gateway fee. There may also be other fees upon the withdrawal of funds from your Tebex Wallet. This article will provide clarity on what each fee is, when it is charged, and why it is necessary.
Throughout our history we’ve been frustrated by the fact that it has not been financially possible for us to provide all of the features to our creators that we knew would benefit them. Offerings such as chargeback protection and free hosted testing servers for plugins and setups are immensely valuable, but also expensive to provide. This was the reason that we decided that it would be beneficial to creators, buyers, and to us for us to begin taking a small platform fee.
We charge a flat 9.9% platform fee on all purchases, which is automatically collected before the funds are put in your Tebex Wallet. This means that the balance you see in your Tebex Wallet has already had our fee taken from it.
Tebex typically charges a 5% fee to server owners to use Tebex Checkout. This fee is not charged separately to our creators as all costs associated with us providing Pro resources are paid out of our 9.9% platform fee.
We offer significantly reduced gateway fees compared to what you currently pay. All of our Pro resource revenue is processed through Tebex, which also processes payments the largest gaming servers such as Hypixel. Tebex handles millions of dollars of transactions every month, so the gateways such as PayPal provide them with lower fees and that saving is then passed on to you. The reduction effectively makes our platform fee the equivalent to just 5.9% on a $3 sale.
Each payment through PayPal has a $0.40, plus 2.49% gateway fee. When a buyer adds several products to their cart and pays, it is done as a single transaction and so there is only a single fixed fee. The gateway fees are smartly divided between creators based on the value of their items in a buyer’s cart.
