Creating resources can be a great way to make money, but creators can take it even further by upselling addons. Offering upsells can help you increase your revenue and build a longer-term relationship with buyers. Addons provide you with the opportunity to expand on your existing resources to give customers a more comprehensive experience. Free resources can also have addons!

An addon is a child product of your resource. Buyers can’t purchase addons without already owning the resource it belongs to, or having it in their cart to be purchased in the same transaction.

Addon Types

We’ve created three basic types of addons that you can offer for your products to ensure you have a powerful system to use while still maintaining consistency between our large catalogue of resources.

We’ve written an article which gives ideas for addons, check it out here: Addon Ideas

If you have an idea for an addon you’d like to offer for your product that isn’t possible with the existing types we provide, please get in touch with us through the #creators channel of the BuiltByBit Discord and let us know! We’re going to add more addon types in the future based on your suggestions.

Product file

A product file addon is essentially a mini resource within your resource. Like videogame downloadable content (DLC), you can attach a complementary file that buyers may find useful alongside your main resource and they can buy it for an additional cost. This is the most commonly used addon type due to the large variety of ways it can be used, especially for free resources.

EULA adjustment

Sometimes you may want to offer more lenient EULA terms to buyers, which is possible with EULA adjustments. You can create several EULA condition adjustment addons for each resource, but buyers can only purchase one of them. Once a EULA adjustment addon is purchased, buyers will see all others as ‘Incompatible’ and be unable to purchase them.

Discord role

The most interesting type is Discord roles, where you can automatically provide buyers with an additional role in your server. These roles can be simple cosmetic ‘Supporter’ roles, or they can be more advanced by giving extra access in your server. The most common use of Discord roles is to offer support only to people who buy this type of addon and then giving the role access to a private ticket system in the server.

Creating Addons

The process of creating addons is very simple! You just need to navigate to the ‘Addons’ tab while editing your resource and from there you can click ‘Create addon’
